Office of the City Clerk

The Office of the City Clerk functions as the official record custodian, official custodian of the seal of the city, supervisor of City elections, and the city records management and records disposition program administrator.

The City Clerk is responsible for attending all City Commission meetings, keeping the official minutes of all meetings of the City Commission, assisting in the preparation of official documents, countersigning official documents, attesting to all city documents, and codifying and recording all local laws, ordinances, resolutions and legal documents adopted by the City Commission.

The City Clerk handles the sale of city cemetery plots, researching public records requests, administering Oaths and Affirmations, publishing legal notices, updating and distributing supplements to the City Code and updating City Financial Disclosure Statements.

NOTICE OF QUALIFYING FOR GENERAL ELECTION
Pursuant to Section 30-1 of the City of West Palm Beach Code of Ordinances

 The City of West Palm Beach will hold a General Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, and Run-off Election, if ncecessary, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three City Commission seats: one in District 3 if the current District 3 Commissioner has submitted a written resignation at least 10 days prior to the first day of qualifying as provided in Section 99.012, Florida Statutes, one in District 2, and one in District 4. Persons seeking election may qualify with the City Clerk beginning at noon on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, and ending at noon on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Qualifying is held during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
 
All persons seeking election as Mayor shall be a qualified elector of the City and may reside in any district within the City. All persons seeking election as a City Commissioner shall be a qualified elector of the City and shall be a resident of the district from which he or she is to be elected. A candidate for the office of Mayor shall have continuously resided in the City during the six-month period immediately prior to the date of election. A candidate for the office of City Commissioner shall have continuously resided during the six-month period immediately prior to the date of election in the respective district from which the candidate seeks to qualify for election. The Mayor and City Commissioners are elected at-large on a nonpartisan basis by a citywide vote.
 
Please note: City Hall will be closed on Monday, December 24, 2018 and December 25, 2018 due to Christmas.  City Hall will reopen on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Aviso De Calificar Para la Elección General De acuerdo al Código de las Ordenanzas de la Ciudad de Wet Palm Beach Sección 30-1
 
La Ciudad de West Palm Beach realizara una Elección Municipal General el día Martes 12 de Marzo, 2019 y la terminara si fuera necesario en el día Martes 26 de Marzo, 2019 entre las horas de 7:00 a.m. y 7:00 p.m. con el propósito de elegir un Alcalde y tres posiciones para Comisionados: Uno en el Distrito 3, en caso que el actual Comisionado del Distrito 3 someta la renuncia por escrito por lo menos 10 días anteriores al primer día de las calificaciones como esta previsto en la sección 99.012 de los Estatutos del Estado de la Florida, Uno en el Distrito 2, y Uno en el Distrito 4. Las personas que buscan ser elegidas pueden calificar con la Secretaria de la Ciudad empesando al medio día del Miércoles 26 de Diciembre, 2018 y terminando al medio día del Martes 8 de Enero, 2019. Las calificaciones se realizaran durante las horas regulares de oficina, de Lunes a Viernes de 8.00 a.m. hasta las 5.00 p.m.
 
Todas las personas que buscan ser elegidos como Alcalde debe ser un elector calificado de la Ciudad y residir en cualquier Distrito dentro la Ciudad. Todas las personas buscando ser elegidos para Comisionados deben ser electores calificados de la Ciudad y deben ser residentes de el Distrito para el cual El o Ella es elegido. Un candidato para ocupad la oficina de la Alcaldía debe haber residido en la ciudad continuamente durante un periodo no menos de sies meses inmediatos previos a la fecha de la elección. Un candidato para ocupar la oficina de Comisionado de la Ciudad debe haber residido continuamente durante un periodo de seis meses inmediatamente previos a la fecha de la elección en el Distrito para el cual el candidato busca calificar para la Elección. El Alcalde y Comisionados de la Ciudad son elegidos  por un porcentaje general de los votos de toda la Ciudad.
 
Por favor note: El Salón de la Ciudad estará cerrado el día Lunes 24 de Diciembre, 2018 y el día Martes 25 de Diciembre, 2018 debido a las festividades de Navidad. El salón de la Ciudad reabrirá el día Miércoles 26 de Diciembre, 2018.
