Jody's Bio
Jody began her career on Wall Street as a Financial Analyst for Dean Witter Reynolds, specializing in tax advantaged investments. After several years, and thousands of two-hour commutes into Manhattan, she decided to relocate to Palm Beach Gardens. Her family has lived there ever since.

Once settled in Palm Beach County, Jody began working as a Pharmaceutical Representative for Schering Plough-Key Pharmaceuticals. Raising two children, while working for a large corporation proved to be quite a challenge. As a result, she decided to form her own Mystery Shopping Company called Fresh Business Insights. The business developed quality and service evaluation programs for retail establishments. The business was successful and was eventually sold to a competitor.

Always looking for a new challenge, Jody decided to apply to law school. She was fortunate to be awarded a Goodwin Fellowship to Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center. In 2002, with diploma in hand, she was admitted to the Florida Bar, followed by admittance to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida in 2003. Currently, Jody is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and is employed as an Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County.

Jody's Progress

It is the middle of July. My workout and diet program has taken control of me. I can not indulge in old habits without enduring a full body and mind revolt. I am actually enjoying my new routines. I look forward to my morning runs and afternoon bike rides.

The weight training, however, is another story. The stronger I get, the more weight my trainer adds to my routine. I am happy with the results. I can feel my muscles growing. My body is beginning to change and I like it. It is hard work, but it feels good. I am constantly learning new ways to work all the different muscles in my body. I enjoy the constant change in routine, which prevents my workouts from becoming boring. I am learning to feel comfortable around the gym, though the free weights are still intimidating.

Food is still a challenge. I know what to eat and what to avoid. However, pizza and ice cream still call my name every once and a while. It is a constant struggle, which I am happy to say I am winning most of the time.

All in all, I have tons more energy and am quite pleased with the
changes.

Jody's Previous Updates
"First two weeks of training have been awesome. My son's comment is: "Where is my mom? What have you done to her?" By that he means, "why are we eating fruits and vegetables, instead of chips and cookies?" My trainer has changed my entire diet. I am on five small meals a day. Mostly protein and vegetables. Fruit tastes like sugar to me now. I have already stopped craving carbs. My whole family is feeling more healthy. However, it takes a lot of effort to eat correctly. Lots of food shopping and preparing meals. So far, it is working for us, but has taken some adjustments. My snacking consists of nuts and fruits and no sugar jello. I am proud to say that I have learned how to hardboil an egg.

I am getting up at 5:45 am and walking for an hour every morning. More amazing, is the fact that I am actually enjoying it. I start the day with a great feeling of accomplishment. Seems to give me lots of energy. It also leaves my nights for weight training or bike riding or tae bo. This works for me because I do not have enough patience or time at night for both aerobic exercise and weight training. I am happy to say that the feeling of accomplishment is greater than the amount of soreness. I have learned that I have a muscular body type. Working out is fun.

Okay, now I am really sore all over. Moral of the story, do not ever tell your trainer that you were not sore from the previous workout. Big mistake I made, that I will never make again. I can not sit, walk, bend or laugh without pain. But it is good sore, or so they say. I even had trouble with my daily 6 am walk this morning. My trainer, Steve, decided that I could handle lots more weight at the gym. WOW!! I am working through the pain. Can't wait to get back in the gym tonight. However, my body is starting to reshape itself, and I am happy with it.
