Project Coordinators: work with developers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the successful planning and completion of both developer and City projects. They are responsible for reviewing construction plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness and conformance to applicable Federal, State, County and City laws, codes, ordinances and regulations.
Private engineers working for developers schedule a preliminary meeting with Project Coordinators to review "as-built," drawings of City infrastructure and to discuss their needs. Developers then create and furnish two sets of plans for City review. Project Coordinators review the plans for infrastructure specifications for compliance with applicable codes.
Construction plans must to be approved by the Project Coordinators prior to submittal to Construction Services for building review and permitting and to the Palm Beach County Health Department for Department of Environmental Protection review and permitting. Neither agency will accept the plans without the Project Coordinators approval stamp on them.
On larger undertakings, Project Coordinators participate in design meetings, prepare and make recommendations for revisions to construction plans and specifications. They prepare project and cost budget estimates. When construction plans conform to all applicable laws and codes, Project Coordinators issue a final approval for the project, which enables the developer to pursue permitting.
In some instances, the City becomes a co-permit holder, partnering with the developer. The Project Coordinator then oversees the project and ensures it stays within budget and is completed on schedule. Project Coordinators work with various departments and agencies to ensure City/Project needs are met
Project Coordinators work with Construction Coordinators in conducting on-site inspections to identify non-conformance issues. They help resolve issues that may arise concerning contractor compliance. They collect and provide technical and financial information regarding construction projects to management
Project Coordinators review test results of water and force main pressure tests, bacteriological tests, as-builts, etc. to ensure the infrastructure portion of the project is functioning correctly. Project Coordinators complete an average of 100 to 120 projects per year of varying size and complexity.
