Mission: The Engineering Services Division provides the infrastructure essential to the safety, health and quality of life for the citizens, businesses, and guests of West Palm Beach. We manage repair and replacement projects for existing water, wastewater, storm drainage, buildings and building systems, streets, sidewalks, curbs and landscaping. We also plan and implement future systems required to meet the growth needs of the City.
Structure: The Engineering Services Division is comprised of the: Utilities Projects, Contract Employees, Construction Administration, Capital Projects, Computer Services, Storm Water Projects, Contract Preparation, Survey Group, and the Administrative Groups. Each section has a series of positions associated with it.
Overview: Infrastructure not only depreciates over time but deteriorates as well. When deficiencies are identified or are projected based on age or condition, priorities are established for their rehabilitation or replacement.
We also project infrastructure needs based on the growth and development of the City. Senior Project Engineers prioritize projects for inclusion in a 5 year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP.) A five year Capital Improvement Plan is a tool used to allocate the resources and funds to install new systems and to rehabilitate or up-grade those portions of the infrastructure that have exceeded their useful service life. |
