PLEASE REMEMBER that you need to take the typing test scheduled on Wednesdays in order for your application to be reviewed by analyst and placed into the Clerical Pool.

If you do not take the typing test, your application will be placed in a hold status for 10 business days. After the ten days, your application will be placed in an inactive status.

Announces Walk-in testing for the ‘Clerical Pool’
 

‘Pool’ is created for future vacancies in the following positions:

   Clerical Assistant

 (000123)  Hourly Rate:  $10.33

   Clerical Specialist

 (000117)  Hourly Rate:  $11.69

   Secretary

 (000112)  Hourly Rate:  $12.90

How To Apply: Must complete an official City of West Palm Beach application and supplement and submit in person at the Human Resources Department. An application packet can be picked up at the City of West Palm Beach, Human Resources Department, 1000 45th Street, Suite 12, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or by clicking here.

Test Dates: Typing test is given every WEDNESDAY (excluding holidays) at the Human Resources Department. The typing test is given on a first-come, first-serve basis with a maximum capacity per session of six applicants.

Test Times: Typing test is given promptly at 9:00 through 11:00 a.m.

Closing Date: Continuous Recruitment for when a position becomes available.

    Position Requirements

CLERICAL ASSISTANT

  • Under direct supervision, performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of business operations within a department or division, and performs related duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of clerical or office experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience. May require a valid Florida driver’s license.

  • Typing test (25 correct words per minute).

CLERICAL SPECIALIST

  • Under limited supervision, performs specialized administrative and/or secretarial support within a department or division: and performs related duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of clerical or office experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience. May require a valid Florida driver’s license

  • Typing test (30 correct words per minute)

SECRETARY

  • Under limited supervision, performs a variety of secretarial and clerical functions for one or more staff/management personnel following established procedures and practices; and performs related duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of clerical or office experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require: a valid Florida driver’s license and State of Florida Notary Public.

  • Typing test (40 correct words per minute)

SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process for the above positions will include the following tests: typing test.

The application will stay in the “Application Pool” for six (6) months from the date the application was submitted and date stamped. If you wish to remain in the pool for an additional six (6) months, you need to submit an updated application to the Human Resources Department.
